14241. WESTON FINISHING CASE STUDY. This paper presents an analysis and a solution to a case study of a furniture manufacturer (Weston Finishing) facing a major Carpenter’s Union strike. The case study was published in Managing the Small to Mid-Sized Company: Concepts and Cases by James Collins and William Lazier. The analysis considers the advantages and disadvantages of settling with the union; examines the long- and short-term consequences of Weston’s strike preparations; possible steps Weston could take to prevent the strike; and the long-term costs of the strike. Concludes with recommendations for action.
