15441. INVOLUNTARY RESETTLEMENT AND DEVELOPMENT: CAN ANTHROPOLOGY HELP? This paper reviews the literature on the involuntary resettlement of indigenous peoples as a consequence of economic and environmental development programs (e.g., dams, urban developments, environmental protection programs, river diversions) and considers how anthropology can be used to help mitigate the negative impact of resettlement on people’s lives.
