Taking the perspective of a climate change policy maker, this paper provides a critical commentary on the evolution of the presentation style and content of climate change science from the time of the IPCC’s Second Assessment Report (1995) to the December 2003 presentations to the UNFCCC’s Conference of the Parties (COP-9). Following a background discussion of the history and framework for the coordination of climate change science and policy, the evolution of the style and content of climate change science over the eight year period is examined.
