| 17309. “THE INNOVATOR’S DILEMMA” BY CLAYTON M. CHRISTENSON. This paper provides a chapter-by-chapter summary of Christenson’s (2003) book, which is concerned with the failure of companies when they are faced with “disruptive changes in technology and market structure” (p. xiv). As noted by Christensen, this type of failure occurs regularly among well-managed companies that are leaders in their industries, such as Sears and Xerox. According to Christenson and against conventional wisdom, the problem is due to the companies’ managers listening to their customers and seeking profits by providing their customers with what they want. KEYWORDS: business failure innovation change technology market structure. Written 2005. 8 pages, 18 footnotes, 1 bibliographic source. 1,783 words. |
